How it all began

Built by a Dad,

"I just wanted my son Celian's games to feel like the big leagues. I had no idea it would turn into this."

It started in a cold scoreboard booth on a Saturday morning. Laurent — hockey dad, software developer, eternal rink-side optimist — was tired of the silence between whistles. He wanted goal horns. He wanted the crowd to feel the energy.

So he built an app. For himself. For Celian's games. He plugged his phone into the arena PA system and, in one period, completely transformed the atmosphere. Parents stood up. Kids skated harder. The snack bar lady gave a thumbs-up.

Then came the other parents. "Wait — can I use that app when you're not doing the taxi run?" And again. And again. Every hockey mom and dad at the rink wanted in.

That's when Laurent put it on the App Store. Not to become an app mogul — just so every hockey family could experience what a real arena atmosphere does for a kid's game. The magic is what this app delivers, every single Saturday morning, in rinks across North America.

Make sure your iPhone is not on silent mode or "Do Not Disturb." Also verify the in-app volume slider is not set to zero. Cloud tracks require an internet connection for Apple DRM — for fully offline playback, use your local MP3 library.

Open the button setup screen, select your song, and use the timeline slider to scrub to the exact moment — the beat drop, the chorus kick, whatever gets the rink going. The app saves that cue point forever. Use the –5/+5 second nudge buttons for fine adjustment.

A local MP3 library loaded into your Apple Music/iTunes app works best — plays reliably even when arena Wi-Fi is terrible. iTunes Cloud Music Subscription also works but requires internet for DRM verification. Spotify is not supported due to their developer terms and conditions.

Go to the Config/Settings screen within the app and tap "Restore Purchases." Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID and restore for free as long as you are signed into the same account.

Yes! Version 5.0+ includes an in-app purchase that lets you record player roster names and custom announcements in your own voice. The microphone icon on the home screen is your gateway to being the true voice of the rink.

Ice Hockey Parents' Playlist is developed and maintained by Laurent Butre. Your privacy is taken seriously. This policy explains exactly how the app handles your information — briefly, because there's almost nothing to explain.

Data Collection

The App does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data. No analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers. Zero.

Music Library Access

The App requests access to your device's local Music/iTunes library solely to let you assign songs to buttons. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any server.

Microphone Access (Optional)

If you use the announcement recording feature, the App accesses your microphone to record voice clips. These recordings are stored locally on your device only and are never uploaded or shared.

In-App Purchases

All purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple. Laurent Butre does not process or store any payment information. All purchase history is managed through your Apple ID.

Internet Connectivity

Internet access is only used when playing songs from Apple Music / iTunes Cloud (for Apple's DRM verification). Local MP3 files play entirely offline.

Children's Privacy

The App is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect any information from children or anyone else. Designed to be family-friendly and safe for all ages at every rink.
